Description: For the second consecutive weekend, crews will install a new concrete barrier between the off-ramp lanes in preparation for a new reversible access point for HOV and transit entering the express lanes.
Traffic: The southbound I-5 and I-5 Express Lanes off-ramps to Mercer Street will close for construction beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19. During the closure crews will continue to install a concrete median barrier that will separate the lanes for this off-ramp. Once complete, drivers exiting from the express lanes when they are in the southbound direction will see a barrier to the right. Drivers exiting southbound from the mainlines to Mercer Street will see the barrier on their left. Please note: The express lanes themselves are not closed and drivers going northbound on the express lanes will still be able to enter at Mercer Street. This is only for the Mercer Street ramp the express lanes uses when its in the southbound direction.
