Important update about piledriving in Portage Bay: We’re writing to update you about a temporary change to the construction schedule for the next two and a half weeks as we approach the end of season one for in-water impact piledriving. Due to environmental limits on in-water construction, Skanska needs to complete their first season of in-water impact piledriving by April 30 (vibratory piledriving in the water is allowed to continue year-round). To meet the April 30 deadline, Skanska received a temporary noise variance (TNV) from the city of Seattle. Beginning Monday, April 14, Skanska will extend its weekday piledriving by three hours in the evening. They will now drive piles from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. There will be no change to the weekend piledriving schedule. These temporary hours will not extend beyond April 30. We know this is frustrating news for neighbors – and it’s also different from what we’ve communicated before. We’re extending the hours now so we can keep the project on schedule and reduce the need to piledrive in future seasons. What to expect •	Crews will work extended impact piledriving hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays (from the previous 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. window). •	There will be no change to the weekend impact piledriving schedule of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays. Learn more We encourage all affected neighbors to register for our next monthly construction update meeting on Thursday, April 17, at noon via this link https://bit.ly/portagebay-meeting where we will share more information about this schedule change. The meeting will be recorded and available online if you are unable to attend. Please call our 24-hour construction hotline at 206-319-4520 if you have questions.
